The Chambers Academy Rebels clinched another big win on Friday defeating the Crenshaw Cougars 34-6.  In one of the most anticipated games of the year the Rebels rushed for 233 yards and passed for 72.  Leading the Rebels on offense was CJ Lyons and Matthew Keebler.  Lyons carried the ball 14 times for an impressive 104 yards; scoring 2 touchdowns.  Lyons also intercepted the ball twice in the win.  Keebler gained 60 yards on 18 carries.  CA’s quarterback trio, composed of seniors, Hunter Davis and Blake Sheppard along with Freshman, Payton Allen, were also on pointe.  Davis was 2 for 3 on passing scoring one touchdown.  Sheppard gained yardage on 2 carries for a total of 26 yards.  Allen was 1 for 1  passing for 36 yards and also scoring one Rebel touchdown.  The Rebels did, however, have two fumbles in the game which luckily did not change the outcome.

Defensively, Braxton Allen had an outstanding team high 11 tackles.  Hunter Davis had 8 tackles. Dijon Darden had 6.  Hayden Harris had 5 tackles.  Payton Allen and CJ Lyons each had 4 tackles.  Colton Hand had 3 and Logan Broome had 3 tackles and a fumble recovery in the win.

Coach Jason Allen said “This was our most impressive performance of the season.  I thought we dominated all three phases of the game against a solid Crenshaw team that has been playing well.  We are playing the best defensive football we have played since I’ve been at CA.  It’s been fun to watch.  We played about as good of a first half as we have played in a while. We took the air out of the ball in the second as the game was over and we were content to run the ball and keep the clock moving.  CJ Lyons played one of his better games both offensively and defensively as well as Hunter Davis as he scored a rushing, passing and receiving touchdown.  Braxton Allen played really well for us defensively and is seeing the game really well.  It was a total team effort as our guys have really bought into the “ALL 4 ONE” attitude.

The Rebels will face Sparta at home on Friday.  A win against Sparta would clinch a first round playoff game in the playoffs and set up a winner takes all vs Abbeville the next week.  The Rebels will also celebrate senior night during halftime.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 ct on Torbert Field. The Rebels will also celebrate senior night starting at 6:30 before the game.
