Motorist traveling through the city of LaFayette will take notice to the tremendous athletic abilities that are produced in the community. This will be done with a series of new signs going up at the entry points along busy roadways into LaFayette.
According to Mayor Barry Moody a total of three signs have already been put in place at three busy entry points to the city. The first is located along U.S. Highway 431 at the south entrance near Chambers Academy. The other end of the roadway at U.S. Highway 431’s north entrance to LaFayette has also received a new sign. The final is located along Highway 50 in the entrance from Lanett. There are still three other signs waiting to be put into place.
The signs read, “Welcome to LaFayette State Basketball Champions”. The signs then take note of the championship seasons of LaFayette High School and Chambers Academy. The signs also feature the bulldog mascot of LHS and the logo for Chambers Academy.
Mayor Moody cites the arrival and placing of the new signs comes at the perfect time as LaFayette High School is 8-2 in regular season play and Chambers Academy is heading to the second round of the playoffs. “We are very proud of our two schools in LaFayette. Go out and support our schools,” explained Mayor Moody when discussing the new signs in place.
