LHS linemen get a work out at camp

The Bulldogs look to have another good season in the upcoming year.

The Dogs have been hard at work this summer with workouts and drills.

Coach Lucas and the LaFayette coaching staff are working hard to create an atmosphere for success, that produces a winning mindset for the players.

Coach James Lucas says: I was very pleased with the competition from Pike County 3A and Booker T. Washington 5A.

I know both coaches Fred Holland and Maurice Heard was pleased with their athletes as well.

The camp was just about getting reps from all of our players and seeing what we need to do in order to compete for the up coming fall season on the horizon.

I was pleased with the way our receivers Zarion Moore, Jamarquez Boston-Gaines, McKevion Shealey, Jordan Wallace, are growing with our QB Jaelin McCurdy.

Our Defense is a strong pillar for football team this season.

Lead by Omar Boston at LB. JaQuavion Boston-Gaines is turning to the leader for our OLB better known as the Hornets LB you have to play in and outside the box.

The secondary is our most veteran group with A’zerious Brooks, Corey Boston, Jordan Walker, Xavier Holloway, returning from last year’s defense.

They do an outstanding job and communicate well with each other.

The defensive line lead by Omar Turner, Lajareon (Doug) Bryant, and Julius Bullard had a competitive camp day with all the lineman from Pike Co. and BTW.

Also the Offensive line had a good camp as well with the leaders of the line Trevor Vines and Joshua Holloway competing at a high level from the other schools.

We have a new mixture of athletes young but talented to get reps in the 7 on 7, when they got their chance of exposure of competition against the 2nd and 3rd strings of each school.

I am very excited for the 2017 LaFayette football team. Because all of the athletes have bought in to what the coaches are teaching.
