The LaFayette High Bulldogs are starting to find their form after filling
out their roster with Bulldog football players fresh off a playoff
appearance on the gridiron.
A three point victory over Valley at the Tip-Off tournament before
Thanksgiving left head coach Obadiah Threadgill wondering if his team was
ready for the regular season and more importantly for defending their Class
2A state title. “We are a long way from where we need to be,” said
Threadgill. “Our players understand the process and the way we want to make
progress throughout our season.”
At least a few questions were answered on Tuesday when the Bulldogs
defeated the Horseshoe Bend Generals 53-12 on the road. The Bulldogs got
out to a 30-7 halftime advantage before taking a 29 point lead into the
final quarter. The Bulldogs started and finished the period with reserves
during the 4th quarter and still managed to hold the Generals to only three
LaFayette was lead in scoring by sophomore JaMarquez Boston with 17 points
(he connected on three three-pointers). LaCharles Turner scored nine points
and Christopher Smith scored seven, respectively.
LaFayette plays at Beauregard on Tuesday and at home against Valley this
weekend on Saturday, December 12.
