The LaFayette Bulldogs participated in the Handley Christmas Tournament on last week.
The Bulldogs opened the tournament against the Wadley Bulldogs on Monday at Handley Gymnasium.
The Dogs set the tone early in the game and managed to keep the Wadley Bulldogs contained and came away with a victory.
The thrill of victory was short lived as the Dogs moved to the second night of tournament play.
On night two of the tournament the Bulldogs ran into a talented Clay Central team.
Central came out and played a great game against the Dogs which proved to be the right recipe for victory as they issued the Dogs their first kiss of the tournament.
In night three of the tournament, the Bulldogs faced off with arch rival Handley.
The gym atmosphere was ecstatic and the fans were anxiously awaiting the start of the final game of the tournament.
It was a back and forth game for both squads all night long.
The game was filled with lead changes and fast paced up tempo.
The game would go down to the wire with the Dogs falling short on a fourth quarter comeback, giving Handley the win by a score of 50-48.
This was the Bulldogs second loss of the tournament and third loss of the season.
The Bulldogs were led in scoring by M. Moore and T. Burton with 14-points each.
Corey Boston also added 12-points on the night.
The young Bulldogs have faced a few bumps and bruises this season, but seems to be getting better as the year progresses.
The Bulldogs will return to action on January 2, 2018 against the Handley Tigers at Handley Gymnasium in Roanoke, AL.
