Businesses pitch in to repair vet monument

Funds are being raised to restore this monument that is placed in the courthouse square.
There is a community effort in place to repair the Veterans Memorial on the Chambers County courthouse square. Many people are not aware that the monument was damaged on July 4th 2017, when a car traveling on 431 lost control and hit the monument.

After the American Legion found no path of resolution to the problem, the financial burden of repair has fallen to the veterans themselves. The Sun has reached out to individuals and business to help and honor our Veterans this Veterans Day by collecting donations and giving a portion of the ad proceeds to help with the repair.

The check and a list of donors will be presented to the Veterans on November 11, 2017 at 9am when the American Legion and the Auxiliary gather to hang a wreath on the monument to honor those who gave their life for our country.
If you would like to help with this worthy cause please contact Jody Stewart at the LaFayette Sun at 334-740-1532.
