The Chambers Academy basketball teams recently participated in a summer play date at Lee-Scott Academy. Although formal practices have not begun for basketball the play dates give teams a chance to size up competition for the 2017-2018 season and keep active over the summer.

Competing in two games against 3A Edgewood and Lee-Scott, the CA JV girls performed well falling to Edgewood by 3 points but defeating Lee-Scott 31-12 in the competition. Head Coach Brandi Fuller was very impressed with the girls stating several younger girls stepped up big for the Rebels.
The JV boys also participated in the play date competing in three games.

The boys played Glenwood and two different Lee Scott’s teams. The boys defeated Glenwood and one of the Lee Scott teams, falling only to the other Lee-Scott team. Coached by Jason Allen the JV boys participating in the play date were Payton Allen, Joshua Holiday, Jake Higgins, Jacob Oliver, Rodriguez Dark and Levi Waldrop.

The Varsity Girls played two strong 3A teams. The lady Rebels were defeated by Northside by one point in a very tight contest. They were also defeated by Lee-Scott at the playdate. Players participating were Tori Harmon, Maci Harmon, Tate Reese, Lizzie Keebler, Britten Stephens and Shelly Keebler.

The Varsity Boys basketball team also competed. Participating in the play date were Brody Smoot, Payton Allen, Caydon Smoot, Braxton Allen, CJ Lyons, Colton Hand, Blake Sheppard and Gabe Brooks. The boys beat Edgewood and lost to Lee-Scott by a very small margin. Coach Jason Allen stated “our guys played well and got a lot out of the play date. We learned some things about ourselves and what we need to do to be successful next season”.
