The Chambers Academy junior varsity football team wrapped up the 2014 season last week. They capped an impressive turnaround season with a dominant win over Lakeside, 42-16. The Rebels finished the season with a 6-1 record.
As he has done throughout the season, CA running back Matthew Keebler led the offensive ground attack, totaling two touchdowns and two 2-point conversions in the win.
Keebler wasn’t the only Rebel to have success running the ball. Mitchell Lee, Braxton Allen and Hayden Harris each scored touchdowns for CA. Quarterback Blake Sheppard also had an effective night, and completed a 52-yard pass to Allen to set up a score.
“We were downright dominant in the run game,” CA coach Jason Allen said. “We imposed our will on people in the game. I was very proud of our offensive line of Brinson Sheffield, Alston Knox, Riley Birditt, Colby Boone and Trey Waldrop and the play of Hayden Harris and Reed Allen. They were a big reason for our success this year.”
After a 2-5 season in 2013, this season was a huge confidence boost for the young Rebels and Coach Allen. Right now, the traditionally strong CA junior varsity program appears to be back on track.
“This was a great confidence building season for them and the future is very bright if they continue to work hard and stay humble,” Allen added.
