Chambers Academy’s baseball and softball teams picked up much needed wins on Tuesday.
The Lady Rebels stopped a three-game slide with a 13-3 win over Evangel Christian. CA dropped a 7-6 contest to Evangel last week in Montgomery, but it was a different story on Wednesday here in LaFayette. Britne’ Adams drove home three runs and Jordan Crowder went the distance on the mound to earn the win.
CA trailed 3-1 heading to the bottom of the third, but they scored four runs in the inning to take the lead. The Rebels erupted for seven runs in the fourth, then scored one more in the fifth to end the game due to the mercy rule.
The CA boys picked up their first win of the season against South Montgomery County Academy on Wednesday in Grady, Al. The Rebel had their best offensive performance of the year in the win, taking a 10-1 lead in the second inning. It didn’t stop there, and the game ended in the fifth with Chambers up 19-5.
The baseball team will be in action today against Lyman Ward in a game that will be played at Dadeville High School. Both girls and boys will be in action on Friday at home. The boys will face area rival Cornerstone at 2 pm CST and the girls will take on Macon-East Academy starting at 3:30 pm CST. The junior high Lady Rebels will play a game after the varsity.
