As part of building a healthier LaFayette, the first raised beds in our two new Community Gardens were awarded and planted Thursday evening with wonderful neighborhood support. Eugene Haynes from Auburn presented the advantages of raised bed gardening and we then identified everyone’s new food plot, gave out planting guides, seeds, plants, and assistance to our new gardeners.
This program is free of charge, and we encourage both experienced gardeners and want-to-be gardeners to join us. Planting sites are conveniently located just one block behind LaFayette High School on Alabama Avenue, and at the north end of the Chambers County Agricultural Park just yards from US 431 north. Two handicapped accessible beds are on the Alabama Avenue site. Contact Eric Barker at 334.332.1807 if you or your group are interested.
