The Chambers County Department of Human Resources hosted a very special adoption celebration on Friday afternoon at The Oaks here in LaFayette. Approximately 80 foster and adoptive parents as well as children were on hand along with several state and local officials for the celebration. Twenty of the children on hand are either adopted or in the process of being adopted by foster parents who have generously donated their time and attention to love an care for them.

Friday was a chance to celebrate these families and recognize their actions. The Commissioner of the Alabama Department of Human Resources, Nancy Buckner, was the guest speaker for the occasion and she spoke about the need for permanency for children in foster care who cannot return to their birth parents. Buckner thanked the foster and adoptive parents for opening their homes and their hearts and for their unselfish dedication to meeting the needs of these children as well as others who are in their homes. District Judge Calvin Milford and Probate Judge Cary Baldwin thanked the Chambers County and state DHR for their work with these children and their families and expressed their appreciation to the foster and adoptive parents.
