And this is how Friday the 13th went for the Lady Rebels…..The Ca Lady Rebels were tied with the Lee Scott Warriors 9-9 in the bottom of the 7th. With a runner on 3rd and 2 outs the lady Rebels took the chance to steal home which would have been a 10-9 victory over the Warriors. In a very controversial call, the runner was deemed out; resulting in an 8th inning. Lee Scott started the 8th inning with a runner on 2nd base using the international play rules for overtime. A home run by Lee-Scott scored 2 runs; runs the Rebels were not able to score themselves in the bottom of the 8th. The final score, 11-9 in 8 innings. Despite the loss, the Rebels played a good ballgame against a very good 3A sized softball team. Chloe Mitcham pitched the entire game striking out 7 batters. Tate Reese went 2 for 3 at the plate to lead the ladies. Kelsey Oliver went 1-2 at the plate with 3 walks. Bailey Allen and Chloe Mitcham each recorded 2 hits at 4 at bats. Olivia Williams, McKensie Barnes, Tori Harmon, Jessica Holliday and Jossie Daniel also had a hit in the loss.
Area play was much more successful earlier in the week as wins over Evangel and EMCA declared the Rebels Area Champions for the third year running. In the 13-1 win over Evangel Seniors Kelsey Oliver and McKensie Barnes led the team with 3 hits each at 4 at bats. Barnes recorded 2 RBIs and Oliver recorded 5 RBI’s. Olivia Williams went 2 for 4. Tori Harmon, Bailey Allen and Chloe Mitcham each had a hit in the win.
In the first of two games against EMCA on Tuesday the Rebels were victorious 15-0. Bailey Allen was 2 for 3 at the plate and Kelsey Oliver was 2-4 hitting. Olivia Williams, Tate Reese, Chloe Mitcham and Natalie Lovelace all had hits in the win.
