Houston named Bulldog Player of the Year

This football season was a great year for local football teams.

Many of the areas teams advanced to the playoffs to participate in post season play.

We experienced a ton of football this year and witnessed a lot of good players.

But amongst all the good players there were a couple that stood tall above the rest.

LaFayette running back Robert Houston was a juggernaut on the gridiron this year.

Houston played in 12 games for the Bulldogs this year.

On the year Houston carried the ball 236 times for a jaw dropping 2,305 yards and was responsible for 24 touchdowns.

He averaged 14.9 yards per carry and averaged 190.1 yards per game.

His longest run on the year was 90 yards.

Houston no doubt had a stellar year and for his efforts he is our 2017 LaFayette Sun Player of the year.

Offensive Player of the Year
Jarmarquez Boston-Gain #13

LaFayette lost a lot of key players on the offensive side of the ball in 2016.

One of the most consistent factors for the Dogs this year has been the offensive play of Jamarquez Boston-Gaines.
Boston-Gaines led the team with 45 receptions for 564 yards and 11 Touchdowns.

He averaged 12.1 yards per catch and 47 yards per game for the Bulldogs.

2017 Lafayette Sun Offensive Player of the year.

Omar Boston #31

There were also others who had exceptional football seasons this year as well.

On the defensive side of things LaFayette outside linebacker Omar Boston was a small giant amongst men.

Omar led the area with a total of a 168 tackles, with 3 sacks, 5 tackles for loss, 6 caused fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, and averaged 14.0 tackles per game.

Omar Boston is your 2017 L aFayette Sun Defensive Player of the year.
