Thursday night the Chambers Academy Rebels hosted a 4 team football Jamboree in preparation for the 2016 football season. Lee-Scott Academy, Springwood School and Evangel Christian joined the Rebels on Torbert Field and lit up the “Thursday” night lights.
A Chambers was paired with 3A Lee-Scott against 2A Evangel and 3A Springwood School. Each team had the opportunity to get their players on the field to test what had been taught in practice in live game action. Although all teams performed well the Rebels looked especially impressive Thursday night. Based on their performance this should be an exciting football season for CA.
Head Coach Jason Allen has a lot to be excited about. He will be dressing out 39 boys for the official season opener against Coosa Valley on Friday. With 10 seniors this may prove to be one of the stronger teams both offensively and defensively CA has had in several years. Seniors, Malik Lyons and Mateo Valdez along with newcomer, Brock Ennis are names you are sure to hear over and over this season. Lyons and Valdez were instrumental in CA’s success last year. As last year’s state champ runner’s up the Rebels do have a lot to prove. Allen will be counting on Lyon’s speed and the strength of both the offensive and defensive lines if he intends to lead the Rebels on to successful post-season play.
The Rebels will open the season Friday, August 26th at 7pm against 2A Coosa Valley Academy at home.
