The Chambers Academy JV boys started the basketball season at home last week losing in overtime 45-39 in a nail biter against the Evangel Christian School. Despite only having 3 practices due to an extended football season the Rebels were prepared for the challenge Evangel presented. Payton Allen led the Rebels offensively putting 19 points (3 three pointers) on the board before he got into foul trouble; fouling out early in the 4th.  Joshua Holliday added an additional 11 points (2 three pointers) and Jacob Oliver scored 6 points (1 three pointer) in the loss.  Also scoring for the Rebels were Jake Higgins with 2 points and Levi Waldrop with 1.  Leading in rebounds were Jacob Oliver and Jake Higgins; each credited with 6. Payton Allen also had 5 rebounds. Assistant Coach, Matt Mims, slipped into the driver’s seat for Thursday’s game, coaching in the absence of Head Coach, Jason Allen.  Mims stated “Our boys played hard to have only had a couple of practices.  I was proud of how they handled the adversity.  We had to play some kids early when we got into foul trouble and those kids stepped up tremendously.” The Rebels will be on the road as they travel to Edgewood to face the Wildcats on Monday and to Coosa Valley on Thursday.  All teams will play with JV Girls slotted for 4:00 PM and JV Boys, Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys thereafter.
