The Chambers Academy JV Rebels traveled to Macon-East last week to face the 2A Wildcats in the Rebel’s first appearance of the season.  Chambers started off strong on offense with Freshmen guards, Dean Sheffield and Jacob Oliver blocking the path for Freshman Quarterback, Payton Allen, who ran the ball on 2 carries for 19 total yards, scoring 1 touchdown.  Also scoring for the Rebels early in the game was Freshman, Cade Tarver, carrying the ball twice for 35 yards and 1 touchdown.

8th grader, James Robinson, scored 3 touchdowns and 7th grader, Gavin Kite, scored 1.  Freshman, Jake Higgins, scored the only extra points of the game on a 2- point conversion. Allen finished the game with 4 completed passing attempts for a total of 46 yards.  The Rebels finished the game clean with no fumbles or interceptions.

On defense Robertson led the Rebels with 7 tackles. Higgins and Tarver each had 6.  8th grader, Hayden Hurst, had 5 tackles and 8th grader, Jacob Crowe, had 4. The final score could have been much higher for the Rebels had Head Coach, Jason Allen, continued to play his starting offense and defense after the 1st quarter.  As it was the Rebels had an amazing 44-0 win and all players received time on the field.  Coach Allen stated “I was very impressed with our JV Rebels for the first game. We played about as physical as we have played in a JV game around here in a long time.  We hit them from the time we kicked it off until the horn sounded.  I hope we can keep the positive momentum going next Tuesday at home versus Glenwood”.  This year CA dressed out 19 JV players ranging from 7th-9th grade.

The Rebels will take on the Glenwood Gators at home on Thursday, July 31st.  The Pee-Wee game will begin at 5:00 followed by the JV at 6:00.
