The Chambers Academy JV Rebel football team is on a winning streak. Their current record is 5-0-1, the 1 being a tie against Glenwood, with only 2 games left in the season. The boys traveled to Lee-Scott last week for what would turn out to be the Rebels most complete game of the year. The 28-13 win against the much larger 3A Lee-Scott team was huge and Head Coach, Matt Smith, had plenty to say in regards to his Rebel team. “ We really controlled the game and won the line of scrimmage.
Our offensive line played their tails off and they deserve a lot of credit; Caden Smoot at center, Dean Sheffield and Jacob Oliver at guards, Jake Waldrop and Connor Gregory at tackles and Gabe Brooks and Dijon Darden at tight ends. These guys don’t see their names in the paper a lot but they dominated the game and I couldn’t be happier for them.” Braxton Allen led the Rebels offensively, scoring 3 of the 4 Rebel touchdowns. Allen carried the ball 26 times for 136 total yards. Logan Broom had 11 carries for 67 yards and scored 1 touchdown for the Rebels.
Braxton Allen also led on defense with 9 tackles. Logan Broome had 8 tackles and Payton Allen had 6 tackles. Dijon Darden had 5 tackles, 1 fumble recovery and 1 sack. Caden Smoot had 4 tackles, 1 fumble recovery and 1 sack. Noteworthy is the Rebels had no turnovers or fumbles, playing the best ball they’ve played all year.
The Rebels will head to Alabaster on Tuesday, October 4th, to face the Kingwood Lions before returning to play the final game of the season on October 11th against Springwood at home. Both games will begin at 6:00 cst.
