The Chambers Academy JV Rebels traveled to The Glenwood School Tuesday for a matchup that would end in an unfortunate tie. Leaving the “swamp” Tuesday night the Rebels nor the Gators felt victorious but instead an overwhelming sense of loss. Offensive Coordinator, Jason Allen, commented “This was a tough game but a learning experience for our juniors. We held them to 8 yards rushing and that alone should have won the game. They threw the ball 32 times though and we gave up 2 long pass plays that really hurt. We led the entire game, then turned the ball over twice in the second half which gave them life”.
Braxton Allen put points on the board for the Rebels early in the 1st quarter after being set up by an 86 yard kickoff return. The pat was not successful. Glenwood would score next in the 1st quarter with a 60 yard touchdown pass. The pat was no good ending the 1st quarter in a 6-6 tie.
The 2nd quarter would have the Rebels score again this time after a 13 yard pass by Payton Allen to Braxton Allen. Glenwood scored in the 3rd quarter with an 81 yard touchdown pass. The pat failed. The Rebels scored again when Payton Allen threw a 17 yard pass to Logan Broome resulting in a touchdown. The score was then 20-12 after a failed pat. In the 4th quarter Glenwood would score a final time with 20 seconds on the clock with a 9 yard touchdown pass resulting in a final score of 20-20.
Leading the Rebels on defense were Braxton Allen with 8 tackles, Payton Allen with 7 tackles and an interception and Cayden Smoot with 5 tackles, 1 fumble recovery, 1 blocked punt and 1 sack.
