Lady Dogs can’t hold off Booker T, lose in 7th, 12-11


The Lady Bulldogs softball team lost the season opener to Booker T., but claimed their first victory against Notasulga.

The LaFayette High School girls softball team had there season opener last week on March 9, 2017.

The girls faired well as they took on 5A Booker T. Washington High School.

The game was a close game throughout its entirety as the Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Tigers of B.T.W battled for 7 innings withe the Bulldogs coming up short by a score of 12-11.

After a decent start by the lady Dogs, they managed to grab a 7-5 lead over the lady tigers.

But the Dogs were soon plagued with errors and the Lady Tigers capitalized on the Lady Dogs mistakes taking a 10-7 lead over the Lady Dogs.

In the final inning the Lady Dogs rallied and took a 11-10 advantage, but after a error in the bottom of the inning the Lady Tigers scored two runs and took the win 12-11.

Daijahnna Walton led the way for the Dogs going 2 for 3 at the plate, with 3 RBI’S, 3 Stolen bases and 3 scored runs.

The Lady Bulldogs also played the Lady Blue Devils of Notasulga this past week.

In this game the Lady Dogs seem to get things going in the right direction with their first victory on the season.

The Dogs came out with a vengeance and pummeled Notasulga 18-5.

The Dogs managed to stop the game in only three innings of play.

Raven Vaughn led the way going 2 for 4 batting, with 3 RBI’S, 3 stolen bases, one run scored and pitched a complete game giving up only 5 hits.
