The CA Lady Rebels won two out of the three games played this week advancing their overall record to 4-1 for the season. The only loss incurred was to 3A Lakeside by a score of 17-8 on Thursday. Even after a bad 2nd inning where Lakeside scored several runs, the Rebels were able to come back to within 1 run of the Chiefs.  Unfortunately, defensive errors allowed Lakeside to advance their lead late in the game for the win. Kelsey Oliver went 2 for 4 at the plate with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored.  Chloe Mitcham went 1 for 2 with a RBI and 1 run scored.  Natalie Lovelace also went 1 for 2 with a RBI. McKensie Barnes went 1 for 3 in the loss.  Chloe Mitcham got the start in the circle pitching 2 innings.  She recorded 1 strikeout, 4 walks and 3 hits.  Barnes went in to pitch in relief for the final 4 innings striking out 2, walking 1 and allowing 5 hits.  Head Coach, Brandi Fuller, stated “ We did not play on defense; making 8 errors.  Most of Lakeside’s runs were unearned”.

On Friday the Rebels hosted Cornerstone in a twin bill.  The Rebels won game one against the Chargers by a score of 8-5.  The Chargers held close throughout the game until a throw down initiated by Catcher, Tori Harmon to 3rd base, Kelsey Oliver late in the game ended the inning with 2 possible runs left on base.  The Rebels were able to maintain the lead for the win.  Jossie Daniel led CA going 2 for 2 at the plate.  Olivia Williams went 2 for 4 with an RBI and Kelsey Oliver went 2 for 4  with 4 RBI’s. Coach Brandi Fuller stated “This was a much closer game.  Cornerstone returned their starting pitcher They proved to be a good hitting team.”  Chloe Mitcham got the start in the circle pitching 6 innings.  She struck out 4, walked 8 and allowed 5 hits.  McKensie Barnes pitched the final inning striking out 1, walking 1 and allowing 1 hit.

Game 2 against Cornerstone ended in a 15-0 win for the Rebels after 4 innings.  Choosing to start their number two pitcher proved devastating for Cornerstone. Bailey Allen and Chloe Mitcham each went 2 for 3 at the plate with Mitcham recording 3 RBI’s.  Kelsey Oliver and Olivia Williams also went 1 for 2 with Oliver recording a RBI. A triple play by the Rebels ended Cornerstone’s only real chance of putting any runs on the board. The Lady Rebels will play a double header on Tuesday, February 27th at home beginning at 3:30against area rival Evangel Christian Academy.

The JV ladies played their first game of the season against Lakeside earlier in the week losing by a score of 7-5 against the larger 3A school.  Olivia Leavins got the start in the circle pitching 1 inning. She struck out 1 batter and gave up 4 unearned runs.  Chloe Mitcham finished the game pitching 3 innings and striking out 7. Coach Brandi Fuller stated “ We played well but just had a bad first inning we couldn’t recover from”.  Leading the Rebels at the plate were Mattie Reese and Mitcham, each going 1 for 2.  Reese and Lindsey Fuller each had 1 RBI.  Bailey Allen, Lexi Smith, Natalie Lovelace, Reese and Fuller each scored runs in the loss.
