The Chambers Academy Lady Rebels struggled this week as they faced 3A Lakeside and last year’s state champions, Edgewood. Against Lakeside the Rebels fought hard winning the first match 25-13 but losing the next three, 17-25, 16-25 and 25-27. Leading the Rebels was McKensie Barnes with 8 digs, Tate Reese with 4 digs and Britten Stephens with 3. Stephens also had 6 kills. Bailey Allen, Kelsey Oliver and Stephens had 4 aces each, Barnes had 3 aces and Audra Slay had 2 Aces in the loss.
Edgewood proved to be a beast, winning in 3 matches. Britten Stephens led in kills with 7. Tate Reese had 4 kills. Stephens and Kelsey Oliver each had 2 aces and Chloe Mitcham, McKensie Barnes and Tate Reese each had 1 ace. Stephens had 2 blocks and Reese 1 in the loss. Barnes had 12 digs, Lindsey Fuller had 10 and Oliver had 6.
The JV girls pulled off an impressive win against Lakeside losing the first match and coming back from behind to win the next two for bragging rights. Britten Stephens led the girls with 4 aces. Olivia Leavins added 3 and Chloe Mitcham, Lindsey Fuller and Natalie Lovelace each had 3 aces in the win. Stephens had 3 kills and Mitcham had 1. Fuller led in assists with 26 and Lovelace had 5.
The JV girls weren’t successful against Edgewood losing in 2 matches. Britten Stephens had 3 kills and Lindsey Fuller, Natalie Lovelace and Chloe Mitcham each had 1 kill. Fuller had 2 aces. Stephens had 1 block. Fuller had 23 assists and Lovelace had 12 in the loss.
Volleyball continues this week with the Rebels hitting the road on Monday against Autauga and on Thursday against Evangel.
