The Lady Rebels finished the regular season last Monday with a 50-45 loss against EMCA. Freshman, Britten Stephens, led the team in scoring with an
impressive 19 points . She also led with 15 rebounds. Tate Reese also scored 11 points and had 9 rebounds. Shelly Keebler scored 9 points and pulled down 6 rebounds. Tori Harmon scored 4 points and was credited with 13 rebounds. Audra Slay scored 2 points and Lizzie Keebler had 5 rebounds in the loss.
The ladies traveled to Macon-East Academy on Friday and Saturday to participate in the regional tournament. They faced Abbeville first, losing to the Lady Generals by a score of 53-34. Britten Stephens led with 12 points followed by Tate Reese with 10. Other scorers were Shelly Keebler with 5, Audra Slay with 3 and Tori Harmon and Brandalon Rombokas with 2 each. Reese led in rebounds with 11 followed by Stephens with 10 and Harmon with 7.
Saturday, the ladies faced a familiar foe, Evangel. The lady Rebels pulled out a big 46-38 win securing a spot in the Elite 8. Shelly Keebler was the leading scored for the Lady Rebels with 17 total points. She was also named to the all-tournament team. Britten Stephens scored 13 points. Other scorers were Tori Harmon with 6, Lizzie Keebler with 4, Tate Reese with 4 and Audra Slay with 2 points. Britten Stephens and Tate Reese scared top rebounder status with 9 each.
The ladies will travel to Montgomery on Tuesday, January 30th, to face Southern Academy in the Elite 8. Tip off is set for 12:00 noon at the Crampton Bowls Multiplex.
