The Chambers Academy Lady Rebels had another busy week of basketball. Two losses on the road and an area win at home secured them a spot in the region tournament beginning later this week on Thursday. Losses came first against EMCA in a close 35-32 contest. Tate Reese led the ladies with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Lizzie Keebler added 5 points and Jessica Harmon and Tori Harmon each scored 4 points in the loss. Head Coach, Brandi Fuller, stated “We didn’t play well the first half but came out better in the second half. We had opportunities to win on some open shots but just weren’t able to capitalize on that”. The second loss of the week was against Eastwood in a 51-36 match up. Tate Reese, again, was the high scorer with 11 points and pulled down 6 rebounds. Lizzie Keebler netted 7 points. Jessica Harmon scored 6 points. Shelly Keebler added 5. Tori Harmon scored 3 points and Klancy Harmon and Kristina Stewart each added 2 points in the loss.
The solo win for the ladies came in the second matchup of the week against area team, EMCA. Tate Reese stole the show with 18 Points and 16 rebounds. Jessica Harmon added a cool 10 points, Klancy Harmon and Tori Harmon each scored 7 points. Lizzie and Shelly Keebler each had 4 points. Jossie Daniel netted 2 points and Kristina Stewart had 1 point in the win. Coach Fuller stated “We just lost to this same team the night before. We dominated the game from start to finish. We had players step their game up which I have been waiting on. Klancy Harmon had a fascinating defensive game. Tate Reese played her best game of the year by far. Jessica Harmon also had a great game. Everybody came together and played as a team against this team we really wanted to beat.”
The last two games of the regular season will be Monday, January 23rd at Coosa Valley and Abbeville at home on Tuesday, January 24th. Senior Night will be observed on Tuesday also. Beginning Thursday, January 26th the ladies will participate in the region tournament in post season action.
