The Chambers County Commission is getting ready for the annual LaFayette Day celebration and fundraising activities for the Valley Haven School in Valley. On Monday the Commission made to proactive moves to get ready for the annual festival.
The first order of business was passed unanimously by members of the Chambers County Commission. The commission delivered a proclamation recognizing the week of April 9th through April 14th, 2018 as LaFayette Day week. The week of April 30, 2018 through May 5, 2018 was also recognized and proclaimed as Hike/Bike/Run week by the commission.
This year’s LaFayette Day is set for April 14, 2018. The festivities kick off at 8:00 a.m. and run through 3:00 p.m. The event will be held on the Courthouse Square in downtown LaFayette and is free to the public.
LaFayette Day being held on the Courthouse Square means that the Chambers County Courthouse needs to be utilized for the event and in a second order of business the commission voted to authorize use of the Courthouse for LaFayette Day and Valley Haven.
This year’s LaFayette Day marks the 21st anniversary of the event that is part of the largest fundraising activities of the year for Valley Haven School. Director Craig Brown of Valley Haven School was on hand and thanked the Chambers County Community for their great support over the years.
