With the summer winding down what better time than now to release the 2016 LaFayette High School varsity football schedule. The football season will be here before you know it and with the Bulldogs having been relocated to Region 5, while remaining in Class 2A, there’s a lot to go over before the season opener. The relocation means head coach and Athletic Director James Lucas, his coaches and players will only have to win 4 regional games to qualify for a playoff spot.
Starting on Friday, August 19 with their home opener against the Class 4A Dadeville Tigers, the Bulldogs will be playing one of their most competitive schedules in a decade. LaFayette spends the next two games on the road; at Loachapoka on August 26 and at Vincent High School (Vincent, AL) on September 2.
The Bulldogs return home for consecutive home games on Sept. 9 against the Fayetteville (Sylacauga, AL) High School Wolves before Homecoming on Sept. 16 against the Woodland Bobcats. LaFayette defeated Woodland 44-21 on the road last season.
The Bulldogs will be off on September 23 before returning to action to close out the month of September on the 30th at Horseshoe Bend (New Site, AL). The final month of the season will offer a split in home hames and road games. The Bulldogs will play at Reeltown (Notasulga) on Oct. 7 before playing consecutive home games against Ranburne (Oct. 14) and Lanett on October 21. The Lanett game will double as Senior Night.
The Bulldogs close the season on October 27 on the road at Notasulga High School on a Thursday night.
All home games will be held at Bulldog Stadium in LaFayette and are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
