LaFayette man arrested on kidnapping charges


A 56-year-old La-
Fayette man has been
arrested and charged after
an incident unfolded at a
local mobile home park
that left a female suffer-
ing from minor injuries
after a domestic situation
took a dramatic twist
as the woman was held
against her will.
LaFayette police of-
ficers responded to the
Thomas Trailer Park on
1st Avenue SE on Friday
September 14, 2018 in
reference to a call of
an incident involving
domestic violence at that
When officers arrived
the encountered a female
victim who had been held
against her will at a resi-
dence at the mobile home
park the night before. The victim told police
that John Finley, 56, of
LaFayette was the person
who had held her against
her will at the home.
The victim in the inci-
dent had received injuries
and was transported to a
hospital in nearby Ope-
lika for treatment of her
injuries. Police were able
to quickly locate Finley
near the mobile home park where the incident
had taken place.
LaFayette officers
arrested Finley on the
scene and transported
him to the Chambers
County Detention Facil-
ity where he was booked
on charges of kidnapping
and domestic violence
second degree. Police
continue to investigate
the incident.
