LaFayette to apply for $450k water grant


A public hearing
was held at city hall in
LaFayette on Monday
evening prior to the start
of the normal city council
meeting to discuss the city
of LaFayette’s intention
to apply for a community
development block grant
that will assist the city in
making improvements
to the city of LaFayette’s
water system.
Information released
during the public hear

ing revealed that the city
will apply for a $450,000
grant. The funds from the
grant will be used to make
improvements to the city
water system most likely
in the area near Second
If approved the city will
have a match of $157,000
that it must contribute to
the project. When apply

ing for the grant there
are several factors that
must be demonstrated that
include it must benefit
low and moderate income
families, there must be and
urgent need, and it must
eliminate slum and blight.
After the discussion, the
public hearing adjourned
and members of council
decided to vote on the
project at the end of the
meeting. During that time
city council members
approved the resolution to
seek the city applying for
the grant to improve the
LaFayette water system.
