School has been out for several weeks for the summer break period for local students. However LaFayette area youth have found productive ways to spend their summer months with a little help from local officials and more events are on the way.
On Monday night LaFayette City Councilman Toney Thomas acknowledged the successful completion of youth T-ball in the city of LaFayette this summer. Thomas also announced that on July 22nd at the Apple Building in LaFayette those who participated in this year’s T-ball league will be honored and receive trophies at an awards ceremony scheduled for 6:00pm.
After the wrap up of the T-ball league Thomas has announced that an upcoming one day soccer clinic is in the works. The soccer clinic will hold registration on July 13 from 5:00pm-7:00 pm and again on July 15 from 9:00am-12:00 pm.
Youth who wish to participate in the soccer clinic will be required to pay a $25 fee and that fee will include a ball for each child, shirt, and soccer supplies. The soccer clinic is being sponsored with assistance from the Opelika Parks and Recreation Department.
