A Chambers County man was arrested in a neighboring county shortly after police responded to a burglary in progress call. Auburn Police have now charged a 19-year-old Lanett man in connection to a burglary that occurred on last Wednesday.
Auburn Police officers responded to a burglary in the 400 block of North College Street on Wednesday about 1:00 p.m. The burglary was interrupted and the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle. That suspected vehicle was spotted a short distance away by Auburn Police.
Auburn officers stopped the vehicle in question and took 19-year-old Jarontavious M. Griffin of Lanett into custody. A second suspect fled the scene on foot. A brief chase followed between that suspect and Auburn Police. The second suspect was taken into custody after the chase. He has been identified as Ja’Namar Deon Lee Lanier, 25, of Auburn.
Griffin was charged with third degree burglary and booked into the Lee County Jail on bonds totaling $3,000. Lanier was booked into the Lee County Jail and has bonds totaling $20,250. Lanier was named as the suspect in several other burglaries in Auburn and investigators may also charge him with additional charges.
