By Pamela Holloway Correspondent

The members of UNITE Inc. spent their spring break touring college campuses on their annual HBCU College Tour.

The group traveled over five states.

The first stop was in Atlanta, where they toured Morehouse College and Clark-Atlanta University.
The next stop was Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC.

They then traveled to North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, NC. Next, they traveled ever farther north to Hampton University and Norfolk State University, both in Virginia.

Lastly, they visited Howard University in Washington D.C.

They even got the chance to visit the Smithsonian Museum of African American History and Culture.
The LaFayette chapter of UNITE currently has seven seniors and two juniors as members, Deavin Foreman, Tytiana Smith, Ashley Floyd, Aeriah Bullard, Nataja Reece, Ebony Fields, and Nakayla Reece, all seniors, and D’Angelo Swanson and Omar Turner, both juniors.

The 7 seniors have been accepted into over 80 colleges and received $2.6 million in scholarships.
UNITE Inc. is a two year, non-profit, college prep organization that strives to shape the youth’s minds spiritually, culturally, and intellectually while giving everyone an opportunity to excel in every aspect of life.

Students must apply to UNITE during their Sophomore year of high school to begin their Junior year.
Mr. Travis Smith, founder of UNITE Inc., will be traveling from Clemson University to LaFayette High to speak with the sophomores about joining the organization on Friday morning at 8 a.m.
While he’s working toward his Ph.D., Ms. Tiffany Williams is currently serving as director of the organization.

The community can support the organization by attending their upcoming event, A Night of Giving at Greystone Mansion on May 27, 2017 from 7:30 pm CST until 11:00 pm CST.
