An early Friday morning mobile home fire in Valley has left a local man dead and his family members homeless following the blaze which destroyed their home.
According to the Valley Police Department emergency crews were dispatched to a mobile home located in the Hampton Trailer Park located at 1240 County Road 271 in Valley around 2:40 a.m. on Friday. When emergency crews from the Valley Police Department, Valley EMS, and East Alabama Fire Department they discovered a mobile home fully engulfed in flames.
According to Valley Police they were advised by witnesses in the area that three people had made it out of the trailer, but there was still one person inside the burning home. Firefighters made entry into the trailer where they located a single victim. That victim was identified as 43-year-old Terrance Dodson of Valley. Dodson was pronounced dead of his injuries at the scene.
Three family members were able to make it out of the fire. However the wife of Terrance Dodson who has been identified as Eloise Dodson was burned on several parts of her body. She is in an Atlanta area hospital recovering from her injuries. Doctors do expected Dodson to make a full recovery.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The body of Terrance Dodson was sent to Montgomery for an autopsy and no funeral arrangements have yet been made for Dodson.
