Manhunt ends in Hill’s capture

n Friday June 2, 2018,
the Chambers County
Sheriff Department
conducted a manhunt in
West Chambers County.
Sheriff Sid Lockhart stated
that the Sheriff Dept got
news that Justin Hill who
had multiple outstand-
ing felony warrants was
believed to be in the Ridge
Grove Community.
Residence reported
that they could hear a
helicopter flying overhead
and that deputies could be
seen patrolling the streets
and knocking on doors of
homes in the Ridge Grove
community for hours.
Many residents shut them-
selves up in their homes
weary of the man on the
loose. Deputies located the
vehicle Hill was believed
to be occupying behind a
residence on County Road
471 unoccupied.
After receiving many
reports of residence spot-
ting Hill in different areas
on foot, he was observed
by one of the deputies in
the area of County Road
48. A foot pursuit of Hill
started and at that time
he entered a residence on
County Road 48 and then
exited it from the front
continuing to run on foot
into the wooded area of
County Road 48. It was
later found that Hill had
stolen an ATV from one of
the residences in the area.
Jeff Washburn who
lives on County Rd 48
stated “ The deputies came
to my house and asked if I
had seen a man and I told
them no.” The deputies
parked across the street
from Washburn’s home.
Washburn said, “I was
in my yard just cleaning
up and I heard the four
wheeler coming fast and I waved to the deputies.
Then, when I saw Hill
on the four-wheeler he
turned into my yard, but
the deputies were quick to
respond. Each car went
around my house a differ-
ent way and they caught
him in my back yard!”
The ATV struck the front
of the deputy’s vehicle.
The Sheriffs Dept.
reports Hill was taken
into custody and has
been charged with theft
of property, attempting
to elude and criminal
trespass for offenses that
took place on Friday June
02, 2018. Hill was also
charged with the outstand-
ing warrants of Assault
1st degree, leaving the
scene of an accident with
injuries and attempting
to elude. Hill will be held
in Chambers County jail
awaiting the extradition
process for outstanding
warrants of unlawful
manufacture 2nd degree

bama; probation violation
