The Alabama Marijuana Eradication Team and Aviation, in conjunction with the Chambers County Drug Task Force and Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, were conducting operations in Chambers County. Aviation spotted several plots of suspected marijuana plants near a trailer off of Hwy 77 in Lafayette.
Members of the DTF and the Marijuana ERAD team arrived at the residence and located several plots that had several marijuana plants growing. A search warrant was sought and obtained. Upon executing the search warrant agents located 76 marijuana plants behind the residence, in the garden and in the wooded area surrounding the home.
Officers searched the residence and located drug paraphernalia, loose marijuana and bagged marijuana. In the living room agents located a potbelly stove that had a plastic bag containing coffee filters with powder in them.
They appeared to be from a manufacture of methamphetamine. Outside the residence in a small shed the agents located a glass jar containing camp fuel. Several used filters were located on the shelf. A small drum was located and found to contain seven reaction vessels containing solids, two Hydrogen Chloride gas generators, tubing, salt, acid, pseudo box and blister packs, camp fuel, lye, and lithium strips. This case continues to be under investigation.
Aviation located a second location off of County Road 94 in Lafayette. Upon directing the ERAD team and local officers to this location agents located two marijuana plants growing behind a residence. This case continues to be under investigation.
