The CA JV boys were on the road this week in Montgomery to face Evangel for the first time this season.  Jacob Oliver got the start on the mound pitching 1 inning.  Josh Holliday came in to relieve; pitching the final 4.  Together the two boys threw a no hitter in the 3-0 victory over the Lions.  At the plate the Freshman duo of Jacob Oliver and Payton Allen recorded the only hits for CA.  Oliver went 2 for 3; scoring 1 run and recording 1 RBI.  Allen went 1 for 3 also scoring 1 run.  JoJo Hendrix scored the 3rd run for the Rebels; after a walk in the second inning.

First year Head Coach, Matt Mimms, had several comments about his 2018 JV team. “ I just want to say how proud I am of these nine boys that we have on junior varsity.  These are nine of the scrappiest baseball players I’ve ever met in my entire life. Payton Allen has been phenomenal on the mound as our ace this year.  We’ve had two other great pitchers in Josh Holliday and Jacob Oliver.  Jacob had also been a big asset behind the plate catching and at the plate hitting.

Ben Caulfield has also performed well behind the plate when Jacob is on the mound.  Our infield, consisting of JoJo Hendrix, Josh Holliday, Payton Allen, Jacob Oliver, Ben Caulfield and Kole Baker, our only 6th grader, has to be moved around like chess pieces during a game.  The outfield has been held down by Zach Byslma, Jake Higgins and Dylan Williams. These kids not only do great fielding but all have been great in the lineup with each stepping up when it’s big time for our team.  These kids love to compete and strive to win.”
