Overflow crowds turnout at consolidation forums


The Chambers County
School District held public
forums this week to ad-
dress the future of the lo-
cal public school system.
On Monday night the
forum was held in Valley
where literally hundreds
of concerned citizens
attended. On Tuesday
morning, they met again
at the ALFA Building in
LaFayette, where another
hundred plus citizens at-

tant spoke to the audi-
ence about consolidating
LaFayette and Valley

bers at both forums voiced
their concerns about facil-
ity updates, travel distance
and time change.
In October, the District
released a video presenta-
tion through social media
entitled “What If” that
discussed the proposal of a
consolidated high school.
It was followed by an
online survey that allowed
county residents the op-
portunity to express their
opinion on the proposal,
as well as issues related to
school security, technol-
ogy, and capital improve-

district, along with the
school board will discuss
the feedback received at
the forums and determine
a course of action.
