With Friday night’s 46-6 win over South Montgomery the CA Rebels improved their record to 3-0-0. South Montgomery was the first to score in the 1st quarter on a 26 yard pass set up by a fumbled punt. CA’s Malik Lyons was quick to recover 4 minutes later when he scored the first of what would be seven Rebel touchdowns. Brock Ennis continued adding points for the Rebels when he scored later in the 1st. Ennis sustained an injury that removed him from the remainder of the game. Lyons went on to score on the 2 point conversion bringing the score to 14-6. A three yard pass to Kaine Thomas in the 2nd quarter resulted in the next Rebel touchdown. Thomas scored yet again on a 43 yard touchdown pass to bring the score to 26-6. The 2nd half was big for the Rebels starting with a 31 yard touchdown run by Jontavious Flournoy. Lyons scored again on a 20 yard run and Thomas had a successful PAT. Blake Sheppard was the final scorer for the Rebels on a 10 yard run. Thomas’ PAT was good for a final score of 46-6.

Mateo Valdez led on defense with 7 tackles and 1 sack. Dijon Darden also had 7 tackles. Colby Boone was credited with 6 tackles and Hayden Thompson, Trey Mcclelland, Malik Lyons and Jontavious Flournoy each had 5 tackles in the contest.

Head Coach, Jason Allen, commented “This was a big win for our club as it gets us off to a good start in the region. We started off a little slow but we picked up the pace as the game went on. I would like to see us get off to a better start as we have put ourselves in some stressful situations at the start of our first three contests. The positive is that our guys have shown the ability to play through adversity early in games. Our offensive and defensive lines continue to improve week to week and we are settling into an identity on both sides.”

The Rebels play at home Friday, September 16th, against Lowndes Academy with a 7pm kick off. This will be the Rebels’ toughest competitor to date as Lowndes is ranked in the top 10. The winner of this face off will have a leg up in the region standings. Allen commented “Lowndes has a really athletic quarterback so we will have to keep him contained which always scares you. We are excited about the contest and look for a huge crowd at Torbert.
