The CA Rebels finished up the regular season with a 73-56 loss against EMCA on Monday.  Despite Payton Allen’s 22 points scored and 10 rebounds and CJ Lyons’ 9 points and team high 12 rebounds, the Rebels just weren’t able to get the win against the Wildcats.  Also scoring for the Rebels were Rodriguez Dark with 8 points, Jake Waldrop with 6 points, Colton Hand with 5 points, Gabe Brooks with 4 points and Braxton Allen with 2 points.  Blake Sheppard also had 4 rebounds in the loss.

The Rebels finished the week playing 3 games in the regional tournament on Friday and Saturday at Macon-East Academy.  The Rebels first faced Sparta, defeating them 69-39.  Payton Allen scored an impressive 26 points in the win. Blake Sheppard scored 9 points.  Braxton Allen scored 8 points.  Other scorers for the Rebels were CJ Lyons and Rodriguez Dark with 6 points each, Colton Hand with 5 points, Jake Waldrop with 4 points and Gabe Brooks with 3 points.  The top rebounder was Payton Allen with 9 followed by Sheppard with 6 and Braxton Allen and CJ Lyons with 5 each.

Game two pitted the Rebels against area rival, Evangel.  Evangel was the victor by a score of 58-33.  Payton Allen led in points with 11. Rodriguez Dark scored 7.  Colton Hand scored 6.  Blake Sheppard scored 4.  CJ Lyons scored 3 and Quay Johnson scored 2 in the loss.  CJ Lyons and Payton Allen shared top rebounder status with 7 each.

Game three was a close one with Chambers defeating Abbeville by a score of 56-55 advancing the Rebels to the Elite 8.  Against Abbeville Payton Allen led the team with 22 points.  CJ Lyons scored 11 points. Rodriguez Dark scored 10. Colton Hand scored 8 points and Braxton Allen scored 5 points in the win. CJ Lyons and Payton Allen again shared top rebounder status with 10 each.  Payton Allen was named to the All-Tournament team.

The Varsity boys will compete in the elite 8 on Tuesday, January 30th at the Multiplex at Crampton Bowl in Montgomery.  They will face Marengo beginning at 1:30.
