Using the words of Head Coach, Jason Allen, “This game was not one of our prettiest wins but it was a win none the less”.  The Rebels traveled to Eufaula to take on the Lakeside Chiefs Friday night.  The Rebels started off the 1st quarter allowing the Chiefs to score and having to work from behind.  The Rebels followed up with a 53 yard touchdown run by CJ Lyons and a completed 2 point conversion by Matthew Keebler to jump ahead by one.  In the 2nd quarter CA would widen their lead when Lyons again ran for 30 yards scoring a touchdown and Keebler successfully earned 2 more points.  Lyons scored again in the 3rd quarter to up the score 22-7 on a 41 yard run.  Lakeside would then retaliate by adding 6 more to the board. Still in the 3rd CA’s Jordan Gillespie gained 44 yards scoring a Rebel touchdown and scored the 2 point conversion for a 30-13 Rebel lead.  Lakeside would score once again to add 6 more points. Lyons then added 6 points on a 39 yard run to finish out the 3rd.  CA would finish out the 4th  quarter with a 9 yard touchdown run and 2 point conversion both completed by Keebler to end the game with a final score of 44-19, Rebels.

Hayden Harris led on tackles with 7 and 1 quarterback sack. Braxton Allen recorded 7 tackles.  Dijon Darden and Jake Waldrop each had 6 tackles.  Colton Hand had 5 tackles and an interception. Trey Waldrop had 4 tackles and 2 quarterback sack assists. CJ Lyons had 3 tackles and 1 interception.  Matthew Keebler had 3 tackles and 1 sack plus an assist.  Mitchell Lee had 3 tackles and 1 quarterback sack. Logan Broome and Jordan Gillespie also had 3 tackles each in the win.

“We played against a really good QB and he showed us some things we need to work on getting cleaned up”, stated Allen.  “We rushed for over 500 yards which is very impressive but we put the ball on the ground twice which is disappointing.  We have got to get that corrected going forward and that will be our number one priority.  Defensively, we played really well except for 3 plays.  We can be a really dominate defensive team as the season goes forward if we can eliminate mental mistakes.  It’s a matter of knowing your assignment and playing fast”.

The Rebels will make the 3 hour drive to Camden, Alabama Friday night to take on the Wilcox Wildcats.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
