The Chambers Academy Rebels successfully pulled off a homecoming win on Torbert field Friday night by defeating the Kingwood Lions by a score of 51-6. The Rebels scored two touchdowns early on for a 14-0 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and widening the lead by a score of 29-0 at the half.  Neither team scored in the 3rd and both scored once in the 4th.  Hunter Davis was 2 for 2  in the quarterback role passing for 29 yards.  Blake Sheppard was 4 for 7 passing for 51 total yards.  Freshman Quarterback, Payton Allen, was 0 for 1, throwing an interception in his only attempt. Davis rushed for 73 yards on 3 carries; scoring 2 Rebel touchdowns.  CJ Lyons also had 73 yards rushing on 4 carries and scored 1 touchdown.  Lyons also scored again on a 29 yard pass.  Jordan Gillespie added 64 yards on 4 carries; scoring once.  Matthew Keebler also scored 1 Rebel touchdown.

Defensively Braxton Allen led the Rebels with 7 Tackles.  Lyons had 6 tackles.  Cole Donner had 5 tackles and Dijon Darden, Gabe Brooks, Hayden Harris, Gillespie and Davis each had 4 tackles in the win.

Coach Jason Allen commented “It was a great night all around for our football team.  We had a tremendous homecoming crowd and we were by far a better team than Kingwood but I think our guys executed well and I think we got better. A goal of ours was to get better in the passing game and I think we accomplished that. We protected well and made some good throws and catches.  Defensively we continue to play at a high level and I am pleased with where we are at halfway through the season.”  According to Coach Allen the second half of the season will be more difficult than the first.  Next up for the Rebels will be 3A Northside on Friday in Dothan.  “We beat them in a barn burner last year” states Allen “We will expect their best shot”.
