The Chambers Academy Rebels took on the Lowndes Academy Rebels last week in double header action at home. Game one resulted in a 14-3 loss for Chambers with Jordan Gillespie, Payton Allen and Gavin White scoring Chambers’ only 3 runs. Payton Allen got the start on the mound allowing Lowndes to score 9 runs in the 2nd inning. White went 2 for 3 at the plate with 1 RBI and Gillespie went 1 for 3.
Caydon Smoot got the start for Chambers in game two on the mound. After having missed several games to injury the Sophomore’s return proved to be most beneficial. Smoot pitched a complete game and struck out 6 in the 2-1 victory over Lowndes. Also contributing to the win was Brody Smoot who went 2 for 2 at the plate. Head Coach Dillon NeSmith stated “ The Smoot brothers were the undeniable heroes of the game 2 win. It’s such an honor to coach these kids. They are not only great athletes they are even better people. They are the kind of athletes that want the constructive criticism from a coach because they know it’ll make them better. If one is playing well it really motivates the other. They’re competitors at the core and I’m blessed to be able to coach them”.
The Rebels will be at home on Tuesday, March 13th with all four Rebel teams playing beginning at 3:30. All four teams will be on the road again on Saturday as the Rebels travel to Kingwood for baseball and softball action.
