For the second week in a row the Rebels won; and the Rebels won BIG. The Rebels allowed Lakeside to score only once in the first quarter and not again for the remainder of the game.

CA was the 1st to score when Malik Lyons ran for a 12 yard touchdown.  Senior, Kaine Thomas made good on the pat for a 7-0 Rebel lead.  Lakeside evened the score later in the quarter with a touchdown for what would be their only points of the game.  CA widened the lead to 14-7 when Malik Lyons scores on a 19 yard run.  Kaine Thomas was again successful on the pat.  The lead became 21-7 when CJ Lyons ran for a 24 yard touchdown after a Lakeside fumble.  Kaine Thomas’s pat attempt was good.  The 2nd quarter had Jontavious Flournoy scoring on a 4 yard run and Kaine Thomas added points with the pat. Matthew Keebler scored for the final time in the 4th to end the game with a 41-7 Rebel victory.

Mateo Valdez led the Rebels defensively this week with 7 tackles. Brock Ennis had 6 tackles, Colby Boone had 5 tackles, Trent Dodgen had 4 tackles, Trent Potts with 3 tackles and 1 fumble recovery, Malik Lyons with 2 tackles and a fumble recovery and Dalton Thrower with 3 fumble recoveries.

Head Coach, Jason Allen commented “ I feel we made some strides from week 1 to week 2.  We played more aggressively and with better tempo than the week before.  I was especially proud that we didn’t put the ball on the ground.  We really worked hard on ball security in practice this week.  Special teams were also a positive for us again this week.  Our coverage teams did a real good job of getting to the ball and we were perfect on pat’s”.

The Rebels play South Montgomery County Academy at South Montgomery on Friday.  “It’s the 1st region game so it will be very important from that standpoint.  Our guys will be eager to get back to work and improve our team another week”.
