Renee Hanner Starkey, age 52, received her angel wings on the morning of November 7, 2017 with her family by her side.
Renee was born on September 2, 1965 in Minot, North Dakota. Eager to make Renee a part of the family, Chester and Inez Hanner adopted her in August of 1966. She had many hurdles to jump during her lifetime, and jump she did. Learning to walk through the use of braces and crutches was no problem for her-she even learned to run. She was gifted in her school work and graduated with flying colors.
Through many illnesses and situations Renee was always ready for the challenge-refusing to use the word “can’t”. She left this world with the determination with which she was born.
Renee is survived by her loving husband, Tom Starkey; her daughter Shayna Hanner; two precious grandchildren Gavin Roberts and Eva Jyn Brown-all of Biloxi, MS. She is also survived by a brother, Ron Hanner of Nicholson, GA; and a sister, Rhonda (Leon) Phillips of LaFayette, AL. Other survivors include a niece, Allison (Mike) Birdsong and their children Ben and Emmy; a nephew, Derek (Candice) Lamb and their son Konnor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Inez Hanner; and a sister, Eva Marie Hanner.
Cremation is being handled by Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home in New Orleans, LA.
A celebration of her life will be held at a future date.
