Keeping traditions is a key to many people in the local community and one who has had one of the longest running local traditions is Chambers County Sheriff Sid Lockhart. This weekend Sheriff Lockhart has again organized his annual rodeo to be held at the Chambers County Agricultural Park.
The annual rodeo is a highlight to not only LaFayette and Chambers County, but the entire region. This year Sheriff Lockhart will be celebrating the 20th year of the massive rodeo. First organized in 1996 Sheriff Lockhart has kept the event ongoing using proceeds from the event to purchase equipment for his department that fell outside of the realms of the operating budget.
This year’s event will be held over the course of two days on Friday April 15th and Saturday April 16th at the Chambers County Agricultural Park located on the north end of LaFayette directly of U.S. Highway 431. The events of the rodeo kick off at 7:00 p.m. Central time. Several signs around the community including at the Chambers County Courthouse and the Chambers County Board of Education are up reminding visitors of the popular annual event.
