According to our rain gauge it rained 6 ½ inches over night last week. Hopefully, we are getting back to normal on our rainfall deficit amount.
It was so good meeting Peggy Thompson last week and hearing her talk about volunteering at the nursing home here in LaFayette. I got so excited seeing her basket of household things use in days gone by. She had an aluminum ice tray that I personally used a many a day as we say. Sure wish I had held on to mine. Can only imagine the conversation the residents have whenever she brings it out to share with them. I would get so mad when I would pull the lever up and only half of the ice would release! The agony of defeat as I would say! Oh what sweet memories!! I am hoping in the near future Peggy will let me spotlight her, sharing more memories with us.
Sorry to hear Calvin Miller has been down in his back. Hoping his visit with the doctor gives him hope for a speedy recovery.
If you haven’t seen the new sidewalks in town please take notice. It has been a struggle for those of us who work downtown working around the noise everyday, please take a look.. I’m sure you will like what you see. Thank you Mayor and City Council, with a big shout out to Harmon Engineering for overseeing the project.
Enjoyed seeing Richard and Martha Slay while dining at the Penton Grill over the weekend with friend Vicky Adams. It was also good meeting the Slay’s friend, Tim Bryant of Smith Station Alabama.
Since there was no Round our Town last week I also need to mention Jean Trammel of Washington D.C. visited in LaFayette over Inauguration week end. She said its much nicer to be here than in all the festivities.
Don’t forget Women’s Bible Study Wednesday morning 10:00am First Baptist Church LaFayette. Open to all ladies in the area.
Until next week
