Search crews have spent a large portion of the past weekend searching for an elderly woman that went missing near West Point on Friday afternoon and has yet to be located. Law enforcement officials in Troup County are using several methods to attempt to locate the missing woman.
According to the Troup County Sheriff’s Department, officials are seeking to located 75-year-old Carol Evans. Evans was last seen on Friday
November 10th, 2017 near her home located at 238 Lower Lovelace Road north of West Point around 2:00 p.m. Investigators believe she left her home on foot walking and disappeared thereafter.
Police are unaware of what clothing Mrs. Evans was wearing at the time she disappeared. However, Troup County investigators have provided a physical description of Evans. She stands 5’2 and weighs 180 lbs. Police also note that Evans wears eye glasses.
Since her disappearance Troup County investigators have used ground teams which included citizen volunteers to search the area near her home. In addition, K-9 units have been in places throughout the area. Police are also using helicopters and unmanned drones to search the area near Evans home for her whereabouts.
On Monday, police noted they no longer needed citizen volunteers to assist in the search for Evans, as it may hamper K-9 units being used in the search for Evans. The Troup County Sheriff’s Department states they are using more than one dozen trained first responders in the search for Evans. The Sheriff’s office notes that if citizens volunteers are needed again in the future they will reach out.
The sheriff’s department asks that if anyone has any information on the whereabouts of Carol Evans to contact 911. Lovelace Road is located north of West Point near Sample Road just over the state line from Chambers County.
