U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) has announced that he will be making his annual visit to Chambers County on Saturday, February 16.
Shelby visits the county at the beginning of each year and rotates his stops between LaFayette, Lanett and Valley, this year’s site. He will also visit many other counties in the state on that day. The stop in Chambers County will be Senator Shelby’s 1,757th county visit since his election to the U.S. Senate.
The meeting, which is in the form of a chamber breakfast this year, will take place in the Crowder Room at the Valley Community Center located at 130 Sportsplex Drive in Valley at 8 am CST.
Senator Shelby will address the legislative agenda for the first session of the 113th Congress as well as important issues facing the nation and the state of Alabama. Following his remarks, Senator Shelby will open the floor to questions and comments from those in attendance.
“Over the years, these meetings have provided an excellent opportunity for area residents to listen and voice their opinions on the activities of our government,” said Shelby. “This will be a great chance to discuss the important issues facing our state and our nation.”
Tickets to the breakfast are $6. To RSVP and purchase tickets please contact the Chamber of Commerce at 334-642-1411 or visit www.greatervalleyarea.com. Reservations will be accepted through Thursday, Feb. 14. There will also be limited seating available for those who wish to attend but not purchase breakfast.
