The special time of year is upon us once again. The time of year when the ringing of a bell can spell the ultimate doom for a student or the procrastination before that big exam can mean the difference between pass and fail. That’s right it is time for schools to start back once again in Chambers County and children around the area are very anxious about the new school year.
The Chambers County School District has been working over the summer to prepare for big things this year including the exciting new online course offerings for students. Parents are also anxious about the starting back of high school sports and the right to brag about which schools have the best teams.
Thursday August 13, 2015 will be the official start of school in Chambers County. Motorist driving around LaFayette and other areas should be well aware that more children will be out and to watch their speeds very closely in school zones as well as residential zones. Motorist should also be aware of warning devices on school buses and remember that children can move very quickly and appear out of nowhere.
In LaFayette, Alabama Avenue located near LaFayette High School and Eastside Elementary School is still closed for drainage repairs. On Monday August 10th the City Council received an update on that project stating that it is moving along nicely, but the exact completion date could not yet be released. Other than that minor construction everything else should be smooth sailing for students returning to local campuses this week.
The 2015-2016 School year is off to be an exciting one in Chambers County with plenty of new technology for students to use as well as anxious faculty and staff just waiting to enrich the young minds of LaFayette and Chambers County this upcoming year.
