The ones that didn’t get away

Paul Richardson

February 1st marked opening day for the Chambers County Lake (County Road 292, Cusseta Road).

It is no secret that over the years, the County lake has offered up many nice, long stringers of Bass, Catfish, Bream, and Crappie. And this year promises to be no exception, since the Chambers County Lake is one of the most productive in the state. (Constantly ranked in the top ten.)

The daytime schedule is the same as it has always been, open daylight till dark every day except closed all day on Tuesdays.

Ken Holt and wife Fay reminds everyone that the lake has a live bait shop, plenty of tackle, and plenty of snacks and food items.

Bring your own or rent a boat, or fish from the bank or large public pier, there are no bad spots.

And later on, when the weather warns, the lighted pier will be open for nighttime crappie fishing.
