Tyson Awarded American Legion Unit Member of the Year

B4-Carol TysonJudy Daughtry, 1st Vice 2016/17 and Carol Tyson, Unit Member of the Year) The American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Alabama convened for its annual State Convention June 16-19, 2016. During the convention Carol Tyson, a resident of Wetumpka and Unit Member of LaFayette Unit #141, was presented with the Unit Member of the Year for the entire Department of Alabama. Carol is married to an Army Veteran. They have 7 children and 2 grandchildren between them, with another on the way. Carol has been a member of Unit #141 for nearly 10 years and proudly serves along with her Granny, Ms. Kate Arledge, who is a Past Department President. Carol has served in the capacity of Sgt at Arms and currently as Secretary for the Unit. During the year, she crocheted 150 hats and two scarves for the veterans of the Bill Nichols Veterans home for Christmas. She also teaches Sunday school and helps with various projects throughout the year for veterans and non-veterans alike. Congratulations to Carol, on this prestigious honor.
