The West Point, Georgia Police Department has announced that officers have successfully apprehended the final suspect wanted in connection to a fatal shooting of a West Point Woman as she walked down a street in May.
West Point Police were able to apprehend Desron Deshawn Young of West Point. Young was the final suspect in the fatal shooting of Sherika Trammell. Trammell was fatally gunned down in a drive-by shooting on May 17th along East 12th Street in West Point. She was transported to George H. Lanier Hospital in Valley, but died of her injuries shortly after arrival.
Following the shooting of Trammell police were able to quickly round up three suspects believed to be connected to the shooting. Shortly after the shooting Kofi Dowell was arrested for the fatal shooting within days of the homicide. Days after Jasmine Snipes was taken into custody after coming into the police station and giving officers a statement.
A third suspect Erica Parkmond was arrested in late May for the shooting. Police still sought one suspect, Desron Young. Young was able to elude capture for two months, but was taken into custody last Wednesday in the area of Avenue H. Young was taken into custody without incident.
Young was transported to the Troup County Jail and booked on two charges. Records from the jail indicate that Young is charged with Felony violation of probation and felony murder. He is being held without bond on both charges.
